Scraping used kiln wash off a shelf is not a fun task. I have tried all kinds of tools to make scraping the shelf easier. After trying a half dozen or more tools it comes down to this… a piece of glass. Yes, my favorite tool is a piece of scrap glass. Holding the scrap […]
Whenever I fuse glass together in my kiln, I put the pieces of glass on a kiln shelf. The shelf must be prepared with a separator, called kiln wash, so the glass doesn’t stick to the shelf when it melts. Sort of like flouring your pastry board before rolling out a pie crust. What you […]
Fused glass bas relief experiment in the kiln.

Isn’t it lovely? No. Not the kiln, but the stand it’s on. I am so fortunate to have a wonderful husband who built this kiln stand for me. It’s on wheels so that I can move it away from the walls when I’m ready to fire it. I love that it is has extra shelves […]
It seems like just yesterday I was buying my first baby kiln an Evenheat Studio Pro. Then I got the papa kiln a Paragon Pearl 22. The first is sometimes too small, while the second is sometimes too big. So I now have the mama kiln a Skutt Firebox 14.
