After practicing and experimenting with decorative soldering last week, I created this sun catcher to apply some of the new techniques. I used a stipple application on the back of the piece. On the front I used my soldering iron on a low setting to create a unique look. To me, it almost makes the globs look like the center of a flower. For a finished edge on the piece I soldered on some twisted came. The last thing I did was to brush the piece with my well-seasoned lead came brush that I inherited from my father. Brushing the lead and solder gives it a natural looking patina that I prefer to the look of a chemical patina.
