A while back I made a piece that I wanted to slump into a tray. Unfortunately I didn’t have a mold big enough. The piece I made was 16.5 inches. I guess I got a little carried away in the design process and forget to check if I had an appropriate mold.
Oh darn! 😉 That meant I had to by a new mold. I found the Bullseye simple curve mold online. The dimensions were listed as 16.5” x 13.5” which was perfect. What I didn’t know was that the dimensions listed are the largest dimensions of the mold. The bottom of the mold was 16.5 inches. The top of the mold was actually 15.5 inches. So I had to go to plan B.
Instead of a tray, I slumped the piece over a curve mold – which I already had. It turned out great, and I even think it works better than the original plan. The curve works really well with the design. In this design there are alternating strips of clear and colored glass. As you look at it from different angles the clear pieces “disappear” and it looks like a solid color; a cool effect which is amplified by the curve.
Right now it is standing in my living room. The colors just happen to be perfect for my décor… go figure. It was hard to photograph because the curve would reflect things. Here are a few pictures so you can get an idea.
Very pretty! I love the colors.
The colours are amazing! I’ll definitely be checking back in more often to see more posts. Very interesting!
