Fused Glass Tooth Fairy Plate

I haven’t been able to get into my glass studio much lately. As I posted on my Facebook page, I tend to get cranky when I don’t have my creative time. Today I finally had some time, but much of it was spent just staring at my supplies.

The arrival of a grand-nephew has me wondering what I can do in glass for a child. I decided on a small plate for leaving those precious teeth out for the Tooth Fairy. This might really help out the Tooth Fairy.  When I was a child, my teeth went into a handkerchief under my pillow. In the morning the ever magical Tooth Fairy had exchanged my tooth for a quarter! When I had my own children, the Tooth Fairy was, unfortunately, not quite as magical. Once she couldn’t find the tooth and left it behind. Even worse, we think she got lost in a storm one night because somehow she never made it to our house! I’m sure the Tooth Fairy has a GPS system now.

I had a design in mind, but wasn’t sure how I was going to execute it. Should I use paints, frit, or cut the glass? Hence the long stare time at my supplies. The first trial run went in the kiln today. Fingers crossed. At least I have some time before the baby will loose his first tooth!
