First Fused Glass Piece of the New Year

rs013 (2) I am focusing on more neutral colors this year. I know that I will eventually gravitate to my favorite colors, blue and green, but for now I am trying to stretch myself by limiting my color palette. So this is the first piece of the new year.

It is a lovely soft brown with black and bronze accents. It also features some glass that I hand painted and combined with glass frits and powders to create a part sheet. In addition to the part sheet, there are two other techniques in this piece. I cut 3 mm strips of glass and placed them on edge. I also did powder stenciling over skeleton keys that I have. Many of these techniques I learned through the Bullseye Online Education series. Look for a link to the videos in the side bar of my blog. rs013 (4)

    Hi Margot,
Your work is lovely. I’m still learning the art of glass fusing. I have been successful so far selling my items on Etsy, which gives me push to keep practicing, but there is still so much to learn. Rather than feeling daunted by the process, I am still like a kid on Christmas morning when I open the kiln to see what’s inside. I look forward to revisiting your blog frequently to see more of your creations.

You seem to have done a lot of experimenting. Have you ever tried to include cubic zirconium in your fused glass? If so, I would love to know the technique!
