In this unique fused glass art tray I used a technique that stacks strips of red and and white glass in the kiln heating them up until they flow together and create a thick slab. I cut the slab with a tile saw to reveal the pattern created by the flowing molten glass. Each flow slab pattern bar is unique. I then combined the pattern bar with black and transparent red glass stripes. The stripes are hand-cut 3mm strips of glass. A clear strip of glass on either side of the focal point really makes it stand our. The piece is further refined by giving the black and red glass a matte finish. From start to the finished piece, the process to make this rectangular sushi style tray takes four separate firings. Red and black is such a classic color combination and will be a stand-out accent piece in any home and would make an exceptionally elegant Christmas gift. You really have to see this piece to fully appreciate it.
