This mostly blue fused glass art tray features a unique hand crafted piece of glass. To create this one of a kind piece of glass I stack strips of glass in the kiln heating them up until they flow together and create a slab. I cut the slab open with a tile saw to reveal the stunning pattern created. Each flow slab pattern bar is unique.
The inspiration for the colors in this piece came from the dessert landscape against a beautiful blue sky. I combined blue, white and an earthy clay color to create the pattern bar. I added 6 mm hand cut strips of clear glass around the bar leaving a window to the side of the pattern bar. I used a transparent blue glass to complete the piece. To add a subtle detail and interest, I made the smaller blue side in a matte finish. The complete process for this one of a kind piece takes four firings over four days. Not only beautiful, but also functional as a serving piece.
