Wine Social on the Patio at Cedar Landing

Last week my husband and I spent some time with friends at a wine social.  Cedar Landing, a local restaurant, hosts a Wine Social on the Patio the third Thursday of the month. The restaurant has a great patio where you can sit outside and catch the breezes from Lake Houston. Unfortunately, with the crazy heat and drought we have been having in Texas the lake seems to be evaporating in front of our eyes. And a 95 degree F. breeze just isn’t much fun. Not to be deterred the wine social was moved inside to the air conditioned comfort of the restaurant.

One of the wines we tasted that night was a white wine – Amberhill Secret Blend. I confess I am not much of a white wine drinker. I much prefer a good Cabernet or a Merlot. But I was pleasantly surprised. Here is the description of the wine from their website:

The floral notes of our 2010 White Wine lift lightly from the glass and intermingle aromatically with scents of orange blossom, jasmine and rose petal. On the palate, this refreshing wine offers flavors of honeysuckle, pineapple and Fuji apple with slight hints of melon and guava. A balanced acidity contributes to a lush, round mouth-feel and leads to a lasting, vibrant finish.

Wow! I wish I could write like that.

At the end of the evening I asked if I could take the empty wine bottles home. They are clear with just a hint of aqua blue; really lovely. These were perfect for the new swirl mold I got recently.

I love that! I have done several bottles but just flat, not slumped them. Where do you buy your moulds for slumping bottles?
